Meet the jury: Marta Vall-llossera
23rd edition of International Design Contest
The president of the Consejo Superior de los Colegios de Arquitectos de España – the higher council of architects associations in Spain (CSCAE) joins as the first juror of 2024.
One of the most anticipated moments of each edition of the International Design Contest has arrived: meeting the jury! Marta Vall-llossera, president of the Consejo Superior de los Colegios de Arquitectos de España (CSCAE) and architect trained by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura de Barcelona, joins as the first announced member of the jury. With her extensive experience in the field of architecture, and having also been dean of the Official Association of Architects of the Balearic Islands (COAIB) from 2015 to 2021, she will bring her expertise to the contest.
In parallel to her position as dean of the Balearic Islands Association of Architects, from 2018 to 2021 she also served as first vice-president in the Higher Council of Architects' Associations in Spain chaired by architect Luis Comerón. From her positions of institutional responsibility, Vall-Llosera has been committed to architecture that defines new social models and standards of well-being that must be addressed in a joint, sustainable, inclusive and viable manner.
A particularly important aspect of his work as a jury member is his struggle to promote the need to manage the European recovery fund for housing rehabilitation and to address environmental issues from the perspective of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals with the infrastructure of the CSCAE 2030 Observatory.
From an urban planning perspective, Marta Vall-llossera seeks to address the best sustainable and, at the same time, innovative practices for architecture. As the president of CSCAE emphasizes in an interview on the occasion of the Architecture Awards: "Sustainability is revolutionizing architecture to address current challenges in areas such as the design of living spaces, people's health and well-being, as well as to develop planning and construction methods to combat global warming and the climate crisis”.
Her extensive experience in architecture, innovation and sustainability will be fundamental in choosing a design with a clear focus on the circular economy.
