New showroom in London
Located in the Clerkenwell district
Andreu World has opened the doors of its new showroom in London. Located in the Clerkenwell district, the space has an area of 400 square meters and houses the latest furniture collections, created by designers such as Philippe Starck, Alfredo Häberli, Benjamin Hubert, Jasper Morrison and Patricia Urquiola.
The design of the new showroom was the work of designer Patricia Urquiola, who has collaborated with Andreu World for more than a decade. “We try to create a space that reflects the essence of Andreu World, its heritage, identity and mission. To do this, we have worked with renewable resources and sustainable materials to create a space where visitors can have a playful and exploratory experience while they flow through the space, discovering different areas delimited by see-through panels. The space is designed to be holistic and multifunctional, responding to the different needs and uses of Andreu World designs”.
The project for the London showroom unfolds across two floors, with a coherent design language throughout the space. Patricia Urquiola imagines a flexible and adaptable space, characterized by a single long open area on the ground floor that welcomes visitors with screen walls that divide various contemporary living environments and showcase Andreu World's collections.
The space has been designed by Patricia Urquiola using only circular economy materials
In line with Andreu World's commitment to sustainability, Urquiola incorporates renewable resources and sustainable materials throughout the space. A meticulous approach to the use of materials has been key to this project. Starting with the FSC® wooden walls of the various settings to the use of Smile Plastic, composed of “waste” plastics collected from post-consumer and post-industrial sources, which are used for the shelves.
Compact stone has been used for the floor, chosen for its ability to minimize CO2 emissions through simple drying, the use of recycled water, the exclusive use of recovered materials, the reuse of waste products and zero waste. In addition, the stone is laid dry, making it easy to dismantle and reuse.
An inspiring conversation
The inauguration of the new Andreu World showroom in London was also attended by Patricia Urquiola, who spoke with Samta Nadeem, curatorial director at STIRworld magazine, about her vision of design and its sustainability. Urquiola and Naveed discussed the importance of circularity in design, the need to create durable and environmentally responsible products. They also talked about the role of design in creating spaces that are both beautiful and functional.
Panel Discussion on circular design and positive impact
In addition, the showroom was also the scene of a panel discussion on Circular Design and Positive Impact. Experts in sustainability and design participated, who discussed the challenges and opportunities of creating a more sustainable future. Hosted by Women in Office Design, the event was moderated by WOD Sustainability Manager and co-founder of the Sustainable Design Collective, Joanna Knight. She was joined by Ana Rita Martins, MCM Sustainability Leader; Lydia Randall, ESG Director, BDG Architecture + Design; Sam Allen, associate director and sustainability leader at M Moser & Associates; together with Julia Hardy, Business Development Manager of Andreu World.
The opening of the new showroom in London consolidates Andreu World's presence in the British market and adds to the brand's 30 locations around the world.
