Mediterraneanism
The good life in a centuries-old culture
The good life in the Mediterranean has a lot to do with its centuries-old culture. Those of us who inhabit its shores have learned that creativity has a lot to do with tradition
That’s why we know how to use our resources wisely. In some places blinds can still be seen on the balconies instead of air conditioners. They let air through, while giving protection from heat and rain, without consuming energy or generating waste. They are woven with natural bers that can be repaired or recycled when necessary. What may seem like something from the past is a lesson for the future. The most important part of outdoor furniture is always durability, resisting weather conditions, at this latitude or anywhere else in the world.
The Most Natural
Blinds woven with natural fibers such as esparto, a grass that comes from the gramineae family, can still be found mainly in Spain, Italy and North Africa. They have been woven by hand since the days of ancient Persia, hence their name, at the easternmost point of the Mediterranean coast.
They not only add a rustic and natural touch to homes but also offer practical benefits, such as protection against heat and sunlight. Their weave allows for gentle and gradual light filtration, creating cozy and cool environments, ideal for warm Mediterranean days. Furthermore, the durability and resilience of their material make them a popular choice in certain regions.
The sand color of esparto is the color of the landscape in its rawest state. It's soft, very present in our environment, and easy to assimilate. From skin color to beach color, from straw color to esparto color, passing through all the shades around us.
Trenza collection
One of our classics is updated with a new color palette inspired by that same sea. Trenza is a collection of seatings —chairs, armchairs and benches— for domestic or contract areas, which is characterized by the continuous webbing of the seat with the backrest and due to its steel structure, it is stackable and visually very light. The colors, which are also available for other collections from the outdoor catalog, were created by Giulio Ridolfo, one of the most renowned specialists in the world in this type of work. They are shades of reds, greens and blues that represent a way of life that is closely linked to things made by hand and related to experimentation, intuition, lack of prejudice, passion and the intensity of the Mediterranean temperament.
