A meeting point with Mediterranean architecture
On September 15, the Andreu World Architecture Days' conference was held in Valencia. This meeting brought together some of the most prominent architecture studios globally. A notable detail of this edition was the presence of Morocco as a guest country.
The CaixaForum València auditorium in Valencia became the meeting point for architectural innovation during this momentous meeting. The congress was structured around six key thematic areas covering work spaces, health, educational and cultural, hospitality, sports and new city models. Reconstruction, an unavoidable topic after the recent earthquake in Morocco on September 9, featured prominently in the discussions.
Valencia: A City at the Vanguard of Architecture and Sustainable Design
This event was held in Valencia with the intention of establishing a meeting point for architectural professionals at a national and international level. In recent years, the city has become a benchmark in urban planning, architecture, interior design, design and sustainability. Recently, it was distinguished as European Green Capital 2024, making it an ideal place to address crucial issues related to sustainability and design.

The 'Andreu World Architecture Days' program included presentations by prestigious professionals in the sector, such as Octavio Mestre, Rachid Andaloussi, Juan Miguel Otxotorena, Fikri Benabdallah, Patxi Mangado, Driss Kettani, Patrick Genard, Aziz Lazrak, Amparo Roig, Salima Naji and Ramón Esteve, among others. His valuable contributions enriched the debate about architecture and its role in society. The round tables were moderated by El País journalist, Anatxu Zabalbeascoa.
Global Connections through architecture
Jesús Llinares, CEO of Andreu World, expressed his vision in this regard: "Architecture transcends borders and cultures, and can be a powerful means to establish professional, personal and institutional relationships between diverse countries. This initiative seeks precisely to bring Morocco and Spain closer to through architecture, in line with cultural diplomacy". Andreu World, with a solid track record of nearly 70 years, is a benchmark in furniture design and has been awarded the National Design Award.
A Commitment to Emergency Architecture
In the context of the congress, Octavio Mestre emphasized the importance of architecture in improving society and the lives of citizens. In the face of challenges such as the recent earthquake in Morocco, he stressed the need to establish local collaborations led by Moroccan architects. Sol Candela, director of the Arquia Foundation, emphasized international collaboration as a key element in shaping the emergency architecture. Likewise, the Dean of the College of Spanish Architects, Marta Vall-llosera, expressed the importance of fostering international dialogue and collaboration in the field of architecture. She emphasized how events like the 'Andreu World Architecture Days' provide a platform for architects from different countries to exchange ideas, share experiences, and collectively address global challenges.
The presentation of the event on September 15 was attended by prominent personalities, including Said Drissi-El-Bouzaidi, consul general of the Kingdom of Morocco in Spain; Marta Vall-llossera, president of the Superior Council of Colleges of Architects of Spain; and Sebastián Fernández Miralles, regional secretary of the Department of Social Services, Equality and Housing.
